who are we?
This webpage was written and designed by the students of an English course instructed by Professor Cheryll Glotfelty at the University of Nevada, Reno. The class revolved around an emphasis of the Truckee river watershed and the sights and stories behind it. To share what we have learned about the watershed, our class designed this website to showcase the topics we had a chance to explore.
The class covered a variety of aspects that make up the Truckee river watershed. The class read two books, The Motel Life by Willy Vlautin and A Doubtful River by Robert Dawson, Peter Goin, and Mary Webb. Each of these readings allowed us to learn and write about different ways to view the watershed and the people the live here.
To complete this course, each student was asked to choose an area of interest within the Truckee watershed region to explore in greater depth. Each student contributed a research essay as well as a Pecha Kucha presentation based on their topic. Each topic and its corresponding essay and presentation is listed on this website and can be accessed by the 'Topics' option at the top the screen.
Please explore the interesting topics on this website and enjoy learning what makes the Truckee river watershed such a unique region in Nevada.
